Ten years ago, Cobb had recently moved back to Charleston after a year of living in New York City. She returned with the intention of opening her own bakery, and with the help of her father, transformed a small retail space into one of the most inviting and warm bakeries in town.
“I decided I wanted to open a cupcake bakery after frequenting the popular Magnolia Bakery and standing in line for their cupcakes. I loved the idea of cupcakes,” Cobb shares.
Make Life Sweet and Delivering Happiness, the business’ mottos, epitomize their mission and goals. Because she saw the opportunity to enter a mostly new market in the state with a specialty product, she took it readily and never looked back. "No one was doing them in Charleston and they were so nostalgic to me," she exclaims. Cupcake DownSouth stepped it up a notch by introducing gourmet flavors and high-quality natural ingredients.
