No longer relegated to mounds of frosting and colored sprinkles, cupcakes have graduated from standard children’s party fare to become a chic alternative to wedding cakes. The cupcakes are generally presented on tiers and guests can serve themselves, eliminating the time-consuming and sometimes costly cake-cutting service.
“There’s a different sort of excitement with cupcakes,” says Kristin Kuhlke, owner of Cupcake [DownSouth]. “They can change the vibe of the entire reception.”
